The AIA West Jersey Service Awards recognize outstanding achievements and contributions that have provided distinguished service to the profession and to our organization.
These prestigious awards celebrate individuals and organizations that demonstrate exceptional leadership, advocacy, and service, advancing the mission and values of the American Institute of Architects in West Jersey.
Each year, AIA West Jersey honors architects, emerging professionals, educators, and allied professionals who have made significant impacts on issues of public awareness of the built environment, service to the community and other non-design aspects of Architecture. The awards highlight those who shape the future of architecture, foster innovation, and strengthen the architectural community.
Through these recognitions, AIA West Jersey continues to showcase the exemplary efforts of its members and industry leaders, inspiring the next generation of architects and advocates.
The AIA WJ Architect Of the Year Award
An award may be given to a registered architect AIA West Jersey member in good standing recognized as having made a major accomplishment in the field of architecture and has distinguished oneself both professionally and personally. The award is to be based on professional, technical and personal accomplishments.
The AIA WJ Young Architect of the Year Award
An award may be given to an individual recognized as having made major accomplishments in the field of architecture and has distinguished himself/herself both professionally and personally. This award is to be presented only to an AIA New Jersey member who has been registered in the practice of Architecture for no more than ten (10) years. This award is to recognize an individual for achievements in the profession at an early point in their career.
The AIA WJ Associate of the Year Award
An award may be given to a West Jersey Associate AIA member in good standing recognized as having made a significant contribution or accomplishment in the field of architecture, or the Architectural Experience Program (AXP), and has distinguished themself both professionally and personally. The award is to be based on both professional and technical accomplishments.
the AIA West Jersey Community Service Award
An award may be given to a resident, or community organization, of Burlington, Camden, Gloucester or Salem County, recognized as having made major contributions to the built environment through community activity, legislative involvement, professional (non-architect) practice or by means of other appropriate activities.
Goettelman Award: The AIA WJ Distinguished Service Award
An award may be given to an AIA West Jersey member in good standing recognized as having provided distinguished service to the profession and to our organization. The award is to be based solely on involvement in the profession and in AIA’s programs and activities.
Malcolm Wells Award: The AIA WJ Sustainable Design Award
Given in honor of Malcolm Wells (1929-2009), arguably the father of modern earth-sheltered architecture, promoter of gentle building and energy conservation, this award may be given to recognize a member of AIA West Jersey for contributions to the community, and architecture profession through the use, promotion, or advancement of sustainable building design and practice.
