This year, AIA West Jersey honors its members with service awards celebrating design achievement, service to the architectural profession and the AIA, as well as outstanding local leaders for their contributions to uplift their communities. 

Apply yourself, or sponsor a candidate worthy of recognition for all their hard work and dedication.  All applications are due Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 5:00 EST.  

2021 Service Awards Applications and Nominations are now open for the following awards:

Community Service Award: The AIA West Jersey Resident of the Year Award 

Description of Award/Eligibility
An award may be given to a resident of Burlington, Camden, Gloucester or Salem County, recognized as having made major contributions to the built environment through community activity, legislative involvement, professional (non-architect) practice or by means of other appropriate activities.

Goettelman Award: The AIA West Jersey Distinguished Service Award 

Description of Award/Eligibility
An award may be given to an AIA West Jersey member in good standing recognized as having provided distinguished service to the profession and to the Society. The award is to be based solely on involvement in the profession and in AIA’s programs and activities.

Malcolm Wells Award: The AIA West Jersey Sustainable Design Award

Description of Award/Eligibility
Given in honor of Malcolm Wells (1929-2009), arguably the father of modern earth-sheltered architecture, promoter of gentle building and energy conservation, this award may be given to recognize a member of AIA West Jersey in good standing for contributions to the community, and architecture profession through the use, promotion, or advancement of sustainable building design and practice.

The AIA West Jersey Emerging Professional of the Year Award

Description of Award/Eligibility
An award may be given to an AIA West Jersey Associate AIA member, or AIA member licensed for no more than 10 years, in good standing recognized as having made a significant contribution or accomplishment in the field of architecture, or the Architectural Experience Program (AXP), and has distinguished themself both professionally and personally. The award is to be based on both professional and technical accomplishments.

The AIA West Jersey Architect of the Year Award

Description of Award/Eligibility
An award may be given to a registered architect AIA West Jersey member in good standing recognized as having made a major accomplishment in the field of architecture and has distinguished oneself both professionally and personally. The award is to be based on professional, technical and personal accomplishments.

AIA West Jersey Service Award Applications are due Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 5:00 EST.  

 

Award Recipients will be announced July 23, 2021, and presented at the AIA West Jersey Annual Meeting.  Questions and comments shall be directed to Mark Barone, AIA WJ Service Awards Committee Chair at markbaianj@gmail.com.

 

Service Award Notes:

  1. AIA West Jersey members can nominate themselves, or be nominated by a sponsor. 
  2. Following the nomination process, if the Service Awards Committee cannot establish a candidate that demonstrates the award description, an award will not be given in that category. 
  3. Recipients of AIA West Jersey Service Awards are encouraged to submit for the AIA New Jersey Service Awards.
