no-thumbOn August 20, 2015 the AIA West Jersey Committee for Emerging Professionals in Architecture (CEPA) held an informative lecture for its members.  The speaker was Gary Chiumento, Esq. of the law firm Chiumento McNally LLC.  Chiumento McNally, LLC is a law firm dedicated to providing the highest quality legal services for the business and professional community. The firm specializes in commercial transactions and litigation with a focus on the construction industry and design professionals.

Gary is an expert in the legal aspects of the profession and presented several topics of interest for the intern and licensed architect alike, including: Forming a Business Entity, Appropriate Insurance Coverage, Limiting Liability for Projects and Tips for Getting Fees Paid.

The presentation was held at the Taproom and Grille in Haddon Township.  The presentation was an informative one and spawned lively discussion that continued well past the scheduled end date.

AIA West Jersey also welcomed two additional special guests: Nicholas Caravella, Assoc. AIA the NJ Region Associate Director and Ryan Day, AIA the Young Architect Regional Director. Nick and Ryan revealed plans for a new State Emerging Professionals Committee and seeks individuals to take on this great leadership opportunity. Keep an eye on your email for additional details.

The role of the committee will be to offer support and guidance to local sections for providing programming and resources to their Emerging Professionals. They will be the open line between Emerging Professionals and State leadership. There will be five (5) positions on this committee.
